Filing a Counter-Notification
If your content was taken down and you believe it was removed by mistake, you can file a counter-notification. It must contain:
- A description of the removed material and the URL where it previously appeared
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you believe the removal was a mistake or misidentification
- Your full legal name, address, phone number, and email
- A statement consenting to the jurisdiction of federal court in your district and agreeing to accept service of process from the original complainant
- Your physical or electronic signature
If we receive a valid counter-notification, we may restore the content within 10–14 business days unless the original complainant files a court action.
Don’t Abuse This Process
Under Section 512(f) of the DMCA, anyone who knowingly files a false takedown notice or counter-notification can be held liable for damages, including legal fees. Only file if you genuinely own the copyright or have been authorized to act.
